Victim Identified in Deadly Fairfield Plane Crash

FAIRFIELD, Iowa — Officials have released the name of a man killed in a plane crash Sunday in Fairfield.

The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office says Robert Bollinger was piloting an experimental aircraft when it crashed into a cornfield southeast of the Fairfield Municipal Airport. The crash happened around 11:30 a.m., shortly after Bollinger took off.

An autopsy is being performed to find the cause of Bollinger’s death.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating to determine what caused the crash.
