WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - The USA’s World Cup match had a lot of people leaving the office in search of a TV Tuesday.
Many of those in the Des Moines metro found their way over to the Keg Stand in West Des Moines where a crowd of over 1,000 people gathered in full get-up.
The costumes got fancy but the excuses didn`t need to.
“I told my boss I was coming to the game,” one fan said ahead of the 3 p.m. kick off.
The game went into extra time but the US couldn't mount a comeback losing 2-1.
“People here are distraught over this loss, so I think it`s caught on,” fan Brian Travers said.
We came for the party but stayed for the soccer and found out this World Cup thing is fun.
Following the 2018 World Cup will be more difficult in the US. It will be held in Russia where there is a 13-15 hour time difference.
