police standoff

DES MOINES, Iowa – Des Moines police have made multiple arrests in a domestic dispute on the east side.

Police say a group of people were arguing at a home around 8:30 p.m. Thursday at 1300 block of McCormick Street when someone fired a gun in the air to break up the crowd.

Police surrounded the home and took Tyrod Smith, 46, into custody. He’s being held in the Polk County Jail on charges of possession of a weapon as a felon and intimidation with a dangerous weapon.

Several others involved in the fight have also been arrested.

Police say no one was seriously injured in the incident.

The TV show “Cops” had a crew shooting the incident.

Funny to see Des Moines making it to “Cops” program. With Tyrod for a first name we don’t have to guess to race. Why do blacks use such odd first names? Is it to make certain everyone knows they are black?
