repairsWEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Two weeks from today, cyclists from all over the country will begin a 418 mile bike ride across Iowa.

In order to complete the RAGBRAI route, riders need their bikes to be in tip-top shape.

Bike World in West Des Moines is currently working on fixing more than 100 bikes, many of them requiring simple tune-ups for RAGBRAI.

Bicycle mechanics recommend riders have their tires, chains, and breaks checked before heading up to Rock Valley.

However, time is running out to do it.

“We’re getting close to that date because in a couple of days, we tear up our shop to go on RAGBRAI. We’re nearing that final day we can finally take stuff but we’ll try and accommodate everyone we can,” said Bif Ridgway, co-owner of Bike World in West Des Moines.

At Bike World, tune ups range in price from $60 to $190 dollars.
