Industry Group Says Iowans Ranked 10th in Beer Consumption in 2013

SUFFERN, New York — A new report released Monday confirms what many of you already knew, Iowans love beer.

A study from Beer Marketer’s Insights shows the average Iowan of legal drinking age consumed 33.2 gallons of beer in 2013. That’s the tenth most of any state in the U.S.

North Dakota topped the list at 43.3 gallons of beer per adult.

Nationwide, Americans drank about one fewer gallons of beer last year than in 2012.

    And just think, alcohol abuse costs Iowa $1.8 billion dollars a year, we allow people to legally drive drunk, and we now even subsidize the production of alcohol, the most dangerous drug in Iowa.
