DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowans are out enjoying their summers and that means blood donations are at critical low.
The LifeServe Blood Center says it’s typical of this time of the year. Right now there’s less than a two-day supply of most blood types.
Van and Bonnie of WHO Radio decided to help out Wednesday morning. They held a special blood drive during their show.
“All we did is say ‘hey let’s try to help save some lives’ and people show up and it just makes you really proud of where you live,” says Van.
The event was called Red, White and Pork! Anyone who donated got a free t-shirt and got a $10 coupon for fresh pork at any grocer.
