Head-On Crash Injures Four in Western Iowa

POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY, Iowa – Four people were injured, two seriously, when two cars crashed head-on in rural Pottawattamie County Wednesday.

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office said the collision happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. on 530th Street south east of Walnut.

Officials say a Chevrolet Impala driven by Sidney Nelson, 14, and a Pontiac Grand Am driven by Leah Jenkins, 22, collided sending both vehicles into the ditch. Jenkins and her passenger Carey Klindt both had to be extricated by firefighters and suffered serious injuries.

Nelson and passenger Felicia Nelson went to hospital suffering from minor injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
