DES MOINES, Iowa — Athletic officials now say the Des Moines school district will remain in the Central Iowa Metro League for the next two years.
The Des Moines district, which is comprised of five high schools, was considering leaving the 19-school league. Marshalltown, Ottumwa and Indianola were also considering a break.
Friday, the Des Moines district said it has schedule contracts with all 19 schools in the CIML and it wants to honor those contracts.
The district says it will continue discussing a possible split for the next two years.
The split was being considered by larger schools that thought a division might make the playing field more even.
