IOWA CITY, Iowa — Iowa Hawkeye basketball player Peter Jok has been suspended indefinitely following an arrest Monday night.

Jok, who as a prep standout at Des Moines Roosevelt and West Des Moines Valley, was pulled over around 11:45 p.m. Monday while riding his moped on campus. He was pulled over for an improper tail light but officers arrested him after learning his license was revoked.

The revocation happened after Jok’s arrest for drunk driving on April 26th.

Coach Fran McCaffery issued a statement Tuesday afternoon, saying Jok was suspended from the team.

“In light of last night’s moped incident, I’ve decided to suspend Peter Jok indefinitely from all University of Iowa basketball related activities. We support Peter, but we’re not happy with his recent pattern of behavior.

“In the interim, Peter will continue to attend summer school classes, participate in community service projects, and take time to work on things internally, as outlined in accordance with the student-athlete Code of Conduct. We will monitor his progress and go from there.”
