UPDATE: Cynde Sheperd says Bowtie was found dead in a nearby bean field Tuesday night. She was very thankful for those who tried to help find him.
ALTOONA, Iowa – A family is hoping they can use the Des Moines Metro area’s help in finding their son’s best friend, Bowtie.
“He’s a part of our family,” said Cynde Sheperd, mother of U.S. soldier Dustin Sheperd and caretaker of his dog. “And so we’re just trying to get anybody and everybody’s help trying to get him back home.”
Dustin Sheperd was deployed to South Korea with the U.S. Army in March and is expected to stay there for at least a year. Cynde Sheperd says he left his two-year-old dog, Bowtie, in her and and her husband’s care. Bowtie went missing eight days ago.
Cynde Sheperd says she just wants her son’s best friend to be there when he eventually does come home, and so they’ve posted flyers with Bowtie’s picture all across the Metro area. They’re hoping they can get the word out and find him quickly.
If you see Bowtie, you are asked to call 515-238-9058.
