When high school football players die, the Dumb Moines Register calls for changes to the game, etc. When a cyclist dies on their precious PR campaign, oh, well.

In fact, with only 0.00325309 of the total number of Iowa’s population participating in that bike ride, would the Dumb Moines Register even consider it newsworthy if they weren’t tied to the event?

It is strange when an automobile driver dies or is in a serious crash, drug and alcohol tests are always done. Why not the same for the bike riders? Steroids? Caffeine overdose? Alcohol? I worked a RAGBRAI once. A lot of party people and I could not understand how they could party/drink so much and then ride so long the next day.
