DES MOINES, Iowa — The North High School baseball team is getting a Major League Baseball grant to renovate its field.
The $16,250 grant will pay for an irrigation system and the grading and re-sodding of the infield. The district says the upgrades are much needed as the program is still trying to make a comeback after 2008 flooding devastated the field.
“On behalf of everyone who has contributed to our efforts to improve our baseball field, we are grateful and very excited to have been selected as one of the Baseball Tomorrow Fund’s grant recipients,” says Brian Tate, North’s Athletic Director.
Tate says the renovations will enhance community spirit and team pride.
Work on the project is expected to begin before the end of the month.
