Suspect in Grimes Homicide Gets New Trial Date

moffitt_davidDES MOINES, Iowa – A new trial date has been set for the man accused of killing a Grime man in May.

David Moffitt, 26, of Pleasant Hill, had been scheduled to stand trial on August 25 on a first-degree murder charge. Moffit is accused of fatally shooting Justin Michael, 30, in Grimes home on May 8.

According to The Des Moines Register, Moffit appeared for a pre-trial conference at the Polk County Courthouse on Thursday afternoon. The trial date was changed to March 2 during the pre-trial conference.

Moffit remains in the Polk County Jail on a $1 million bond.
