hatch2SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The man challenging Governor Branstad in this year’s gubernatorial race campaigned in northwest Iowa over the weekend.

State Senator Jack Hatch made a stop at the democratic headquarters in Sioux City with Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley.

O’Malley’s name has been mentioned as a possible presidential candidate.

Senator Hatch also acknowledged several local officials who came to the event and said that the faith he’s putting in them is what gives him the edge in this race.

“We’re giving a view of the future that I think every Iowan can understand. It’s not about Des Moines, or Carroll, or Cedar Rapids, it’s about your community. We’re going to trust you to make the decisions, and provide you with the resources to do it,” Hatch said.

One resource Hatch could use, is more money in the bank.

Campaign finance reports show Republican Governor Branstad has a little more than $4-million in the bank for the rest of the campaign.

Hatch has just a fraction of that, with just $183,000.

Monday marks 99 days until the election.

How desperate is your campaign if the best you can do is trot around with the governor of Maryland? And look at the paltry sum in Jack Hatch’s campaign fund. That is…rather sad. Given the party split in Iowa it’s clear that even democrats aren’t supporting Hatch. Governor Branstad has the ability to spend over $40,000 per day for the rest of the campaign without any additional contributions. Hatch? About $1,850 per day.

I didn’t think he’d be well received, but never in my wildest imagination did I think that Hatch would do this poorly.

Its all about money. Not morals in Iowa. Is that what your saying ? He holds the most gold gets to make all the rules. Huh Mike? You and your kind are a poison in this state and the rest of the nation. Money can’t buy you love. Just ask your ex wife.
