ernstURBANDALE, Iowa – US Senate candidate Joni Ernst is back campaigning after two weeks off serving in the Iowa National Guard.

The Republican from Red Oak is a lieutenant colonel in the Guard.

Ernst met with more than 150 people, many of them veterans, Monday morning at the Machine Shed in Urbandale.

She spent most of her time praising veterans’ service to the country. Ernst closed her speech with a call for supporters to join her efforts to get to Washington.

“We have an opportunity today to start working towards a November election that is very, very important. We have to set the stage for America,” Ernst said.
