DETROIT, Michigan — A teenager girl who was killed while she walked her dog in a rural area north of Detroit last week sent her boyfriend an ominous text message saying “I think I’m being kidnapped.”
April Millsap was walking her family’s border collie in Armada, Mich., on Thursday but never came home. Her body was found about 15 to 20 feet off the trail with the dog “guarding” her body.
Local police have not said how Millsap was killed, but said she was not shot or stabbed.
According to mlive.com, police have interviewed her family and boyfriend. The boyfriend told police that he got a text message from Millsap the night she disappeared that read: “Omg. … I think I’m being kidnapped.”
“I can confirm that that message was sent out,” the police chief told WJBK-TV. “We’re taking it with that in mind however we just know that it came from April’s cell phone. Other than that, we’re not commenting.”
Police have released a sketch of a person of interest in the case, but not suspect has been identified.
