Power Outage as Car Hits Pole Near Downtown

DES MOINES, Iowa — A handful of people near downtown Des Moines lost power after someone hit a power pole.

MidAmerican Energy spokesperson says a car hit a pole at 24th and Ingersoll just after 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The pole was bent over onto the car and wires, which were on fire,  were lying across Ingersoll.

No one was seriously hurt but the driver did complain about back pain.

In total, 20 customers lost power.
