Flames Engulf Warren Co. Home

WARREN COUNTY, Iowa — Firefighters battled a house fire in rural Warren County overnight.

Several departments were called out at about 3:15 a.m. after flames were spotted by drivers passing the home east of the Saint Charles exit on I-35.

Most of the fire was on the second floor of the home. With the nearest fire hydrant two miles away, crews transported and dumped water in portable pools.

Authorities say a family of seven that lives there was not home at the time of the fire.

No one was hurt.
