WARREN COUNTY, Iowa -- Firefighters battled a house fire in rural Warren County overnight.

Several departments were called out at about 3:15 a.m. after flames were spotted by drivers passing the home east of the Saint Charles exit on I-35.

Most of the fire was on the second floor of the home. With the nearest fire hydrant two miles away, crews transported and dumped water in portable pools.

Authorities say a family of seven that lives there was not home at the time of the fire.

No one was hurt.

so kcci has this article to and it states ” neighbors said family left to go and get tomato juice for the dog because it was sprayed by a skunk” and WhoTv says it was a family of seven displaced…so load up the family during the middle of the night to go walmart and come home to a burnt house at 3 A.M. …hmmmmm

I Agree. Why would you wake your children up… to go to walmart in the we hours of the morning.. Let alone when school starts in less than an month… According to kcci “shortly after they left the house engulfed” and according to firemen this morning “faulty wiring on a fan” this is 2 things that has had “faulty wiring” why would the neighbors know they went to walmart to get tomato juice? Sounds quite a bit fishy to me..

Yep, Seems a tad bit fishy to me… Why would you be up at that time? Specially with that many children in the home?

These are very good friends of mine. While the news made this sound VERY odd, this is a blended family. He has children and she has children. Those children also have visitation with parents that live outside the home. These 2 work morning noon and all night to provide for all their children. They also have several farm animals and they are always up checking on animals etc. The news stated that 7 children reside in the home. What they fail to say is that they weren’t there. While it may sound bad, it’s NOT. Either way, even if these people did take their children to the store at that hour, doesn’t change that those 7 kids and 2 hard working parents no longer have a home or clothing! Maybe we should focus on THAT instead of when they go to the store!!
