Same-sex couples have been getting married in Iowa since the State Supreme Court made it legal in 2009.  Despite the change, prominent Iowa Republicans have refused to back these marriages.  Governor Terry Branstad, Senator Chuck Grassley, Congressman Steve King and Tom Latham all support what they call traditional marriage (one man, one woman).

National polls show that people, especially those under 40, support the rights of gay couples to marry.  The great granddaughter of President and Iowa native Herbert Hoover, Margaret Hoover, is part of a group called Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry.  They are coming to Iowa this week for the State Fair.  Learn what they plan to do and the impact they are trying to have both now and two years from now.
