DES MOINES, Iowa – The Des Moines Area Sports Commission is making another run at hosting the N.C.A.A. Division One men’s basketball tournament.

The commission, a division of the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau, teamed up with Iowa State University and Global Spectrum to submit a bid for the 2016, 2017 and 2018 tournaments.

Unlike the last two bids, this bid included 30 letters of support from Des Moines business leaders.

City officials said the event would mean millions of dollars for Des Moines as well as media attention for the area.

The commission should know by November or December if it has been selected to host the tournament.
