The VEISHEA Task Force, which was created in April after the annual celebration was suspended, presented its recommendations to President Leath last month.
The task force recommended ending the celebration in its current form and creating an event that discourages a party atmosphere.
It also suggested cracking down on student behavior by increasing fines and penalties for students who violate the code of conduct.
The 2014 VEISHEA celebration was suspended after an out of control crowd damaged property in the Campustown area of Ames and injured one person.
The announcement is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
