DES MOINES, Iowa — Monday marked Veterans Day at the Iowa State Fair today and that meant a big parade down the Grand Concourse.
There were several different military groups represented including the VFW Post 839 of Marshalltown and the Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors.
Ed Carr, an Army veteran from Webster City, visited the fair Monday. He says the old Army vehicles brought back memories from his days during the Vietnam era, but he also made some new memories. “They come up and thank me for serving. Real proud, real proud,” says Carr.
All veterans received discounted admission Monday.
