AMES, Iowa -- Allen Lazard has always wanted to be a Cyclone, and he could make his Iowa State debut in the opener.

Lazard is quickly moving up the depth chart and is getting reps with the first team. A Big 12 offense is a whole lot different than one in the CIML but Lazard is learning.

“I’m trying to understand the playbook and the schemes of all the plays and stuff. It’s really easy to learn and I think that as a receiver core we’ve excelled pretty good so far,” says Lazard.

Coach Paul Rhoads says,“Allen’s certainly is getting reps with the top groups and has shown nothing to not make us think that he won’t be on the field for us on August 30th.”

The Cyclones play North Dakota State in their opener. The Bison are favored and for good reason. They've won four-straight against FBS teams. Their last loss to an FBS school was in 2009 to Iowa State.
