DES MOINES, Iowa — Steve King took his turn at the Des Moines Register’s soapbox at the Iowa State Fair last week and Tuesday it was his opponent’s turn.
Democrat Jim Mowrer of Boone talked about his time in the service, his family, and his platform. He told the crowd gathered around him he backs raising the minimum wage and if elected he’ll keep his eye on the future.
“We need to continue investing in our infrastructure, clean renewable energy here in Iowa and my opponent does not believe. That’s his vision, he’s saying that we need to stop investing in the future of our country and that’s not the right approach. That’s the way to go backward, not forward,” said Mowrer.
King and Mowrer are facing off in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District.
