DES MOINES, Iowa — A national publication says Iowa has some of the best college towns.

The Best College Review released its list of the 50 Best College Towns and all the Iowa towns with a state university made the list.

The survey looked at livability, student to resident ratio, school presence, and cultural offerings.

Waterloo/Cedar Falls came in at #35. Its growth in the tech industry and its effort to attract skilled workers puts it on the list.

With a strong literary scene and its acclaimed hospital system, Iowa City ranked 9th.

Ames earned the 5th spot on the list, in part because of the university itself and because of the large employers who call the city home.
