Insurance Company Announces Plans to Build New Offices in Downtown Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa – EMC Insurance has announced plans to build a new four-story office building in downtown Des Moines, The Des Moines Register reports.

The new building will be located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Seventh and Walnut streets. EMC plans to demolish three-century old buildings to make way for the new offices. The Register reports that the Robertson and Foster buildings are among those that will be demolished.

EMC said it plans to demolish the three buildings this fall but a construction timeline has not been determined.
