Iowa’s Unemployment Rate Up According to Monthly Report

DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa's unemployment rate climbed in July.

According to the Iowa Workforce Development, the unemployment rate increased to 4.5 percent in July. That’s up from 4.4 percent in June.

“The state’s labor force continued to expand in July, causing a slight increase in the monthly unemployment rate,” Director of Iowa Workforce Development Teresa Wahlert said in a press release. “Iowa’s labor force has grown steadily this year, and surpassed 1.7 million in July.”

The nationwide unemployment rate in July increased to 6.2 percent, up from 6.1 percent in June.
