CASEY, Iowa -- Wednesday evening city leaders in Casey held an emergency meeting to discuss the fire at the community building.
Casey’s City Council held the meeting to reassure residents a new community building will be up and running in the future.
The 125 year old building was also used as the City Clerk's office.
A temporary office will be set up so residents have a place to pay bills and get city related questions answered.
The mayor also said he filed an insurance claim following the fire.
“We`ll have to make sure everything is cleaned up, take a look at the site, and see where we want to put a new building, there should be adequate insurance for a building so that won`t be an issue,” says Casey Mayor Forrest Schnobrich.
City leaders say they’re working with the State Fire Marshal's office which is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
