AGRIBUSINESS: Some Soybean Leaves Turning Color

On the August 25 NASS Iowa Crop Progress report, 88% of Iowa's corn crop was in the dough stage or higher, which is 17 days ahead of last year and eight days ahead of the five-year average. Corn crop that has reached the dent stage is 33%, about nine points below normal. Seventy-five percent of the corn acreage is in good to excellent condition.

Ninety-four percent of the soybean crop was setting pods or beyond, which is 13% more than last year and one point above average. A few farmers are reporting soybean leaves starting to turn color. Seventy-three percent of the soybean acreage was in good to excellent condition.

Pasture conditions are rated 56% good to excellent, livestock stress increased this week because of heat and flies.
