DES MOINES, Iowa — A new trial date has been scheduled for a Des Moines teen accused of killing his infant son.

Court records show 17-year-old Drew Weehler-Smith will go before a jury on February 9th. He’s charged with first degree murder and child endangerment in the death of four-month-old Gabriel McFarland.

Police say the child died in April while in Weehler-Smith’s care.

Results from the autopsy show the baby died of abusive head trauma.
