AMES, Iowa — A Boone radio host was killed in a motorcycle accident in Story County Thursday night.

The Story County Sheriff’s Office says Ben Parsons, 52, was killed when he was thrown from his motorcycle in the west bound lane of Highway 30 west of University Avenue Exit and just east of the South Dakota Exit.

A Story County Deputy told Channel 13 that two witnesses saw the motorcycle flip end-over-end twice shortly before 8 p.m.

Parsons was the morning show host of KWBG Radio in Boone.

The station left the following message on its website: “Ben was a loved and valued member of the KWBG and NRG Media family for 11 years.  He’s been a presence in the community as our Morning Show host, ad sales, former Chamber of Commerce President, and Chamber Ambassador who was always willing to lend a hand. We will miss our friend.”

It appears no other vehicles were involved.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
