DES MOINES, Iowa — Record rainfall in Des Moines is causing flooding concerns.

The Raccoon River was just half a foot below flood stage Friday morning after 3.6 inches of rain fell overnight.

At Fleur Drive, the river is expected to crest at 14’3” at 7 p.m. Friday. That’s over two feet above flood stage.

The city has closed George Flagg from SW 30th to Park Avenue.

The city says all other rivers and streams are expected to stay below flood stage.
