WAUKEE, Iowa -- The Waukee city council has approved the contract for the construction of a major, new interchange.

The bid for the I-80 interchange came in at $13.4 million.

It’s a shared partnership between the city of Waukee and West Des Moines. The two cities will split the cost equally.

This is just one more piece of the puzzle to create the new Kettlestone Corridor, all the way to I-80. In addition to the new road, there will be plots for homes, restaurants, and businesses.

Bids are still being taken on one portion of the road. City officials estimate the new interchange will be complete by the end of next year.
