Overnight House Fire Causes $30K Damage

Five people were home at the time of the fire (WHO-HD)

DES MOINES, Iowa — Five people are out of their home after a house fire early Thursday morning.

One of the people living there woke up to find smoke in their home.

Firefighters were called to 710 25th Street just before 3 a.m. The 9-1-1 caller said smoke was coming from the basement.

Firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire. They say the cause was electrical and it caused about $30,000 in damage.

No one was hurt.

The Red Cross is helping the five people who lived there find a new place to stay.
