DES MOINES, Iowa — Dozens of people are camping out in Evelyn Davis Park Friday night to send a message.
“What we want to say is we want to stop the violence, keep the peace and spread the love, those are the three messages,” says Ben Bell, president of Truth Ministries International.
This is the second Stop the Violence Camp Out. The family-friendly event includes live music, food, and games.
Community leaders say an increase in shootings this past year prompted the event. They hope the large show of support Friday night, helps stop violence and show the parks belong to families not criminals.
The event is going on all night and tents are still available for those who want to show up.
