JOHNSTON, Iowa — Johnston High School officials say students took a homecoming event too far.

Students annually TP the school as part of the week’s activities, but Superintendent Corey Lunn says it got out of hand and police were called in.

A letter sent to students’ parents says part of the high school and middle school properties were vandalized including. The stadium and press box were also broken into.

There’s no word yet on any arrests.

Authorities have been working to clean up the mess and expect the homecoming game to begin as scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
