WEST DES MOINES - Iowa Christian Academy won just 5 games all of last season, through 13 games this year the Blazers are 10-3.

One of the main reasons for the turnaround, Senior Devon Veach, who's averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds a game.

Veach not only excels on the court, but off as well.  Veach works at Adventureland in the summer, he was recently named Homecoming king, he's on the honor roll, and oh by the way, he sports a 4.3 GPA.

"It's tough, but its all about time management," says Veach.

"I see him doing calculus, and physics at home and then he's out playing basketball.  I don't know how he does it all," says Cody Veach, Devon's brother.

You'd be hard pressed to find anyone with something bad to say about Devon Veach, liked by all.

"I have a 10 year old daughter and you hope she ends up with someone like Devon someday," says Head Coach Denny McDonnell.

Devon plans on attending Drake or Simpson to study actuarial science in college.

Iowa Christian Academy has been around for 15 years, but the Blazers have never had their own gymnasium.  They play all their basketball games either on the road or at 'neutral' sites.  That will change this upcoming fall when they build a brand new gym they can call their own.
