DES MOINES, Iowa – The snow and wind will make a mess of the roads, but officials with Des Moines Area Regional Transit or DART say it likely won’t be enough to keep the buses in the garage.

DART officials said bus service has only been canceled twice in the past six years due to weather.

While officials will monitor the weather, they say there is no exact formula or amount of snowfall that leads to canceling bus service.

Customers are urged to be patient as the weather is expected to at least slow bus travel. “We’re stuck in the same conditions other motorists are in. Our service will be out there but it will be a little slower due to traffic conditions more than anything else,” said Tony Lafata, the corporate operating officer for DART.

Customers are asked to monitor the DART website and social media platforms for service updates.
