NEW YORK, New York — Brian Williams is stepping aside from his “NBC Nightly News” amid mounting questions about the accuracy of a story he told about an Iraq War mission in 2003.

“I have decided to take myself off of my daily broadcast for the next several days,” he said in a memo to colleagues.

Williams, the subject of an internal investigation by NBC, said “it has become painfully apparent to me that I am presently too much a part of the news, due to my actions.”

Lester Holt, anchor of NBC’s “Dateline,” will fill in for Williams.

Upon my return, I will continue my career-long effort to be worthy of the trust of those who place their trust in us,” Williams added.

Just think, on FOX Entertainment News, he would have been sacked a long time ago, for telling the truth so often. But, one misstatement of fact on an actual broadcast network, and it’s a HUGE deal.

    Go figure.

Other than this ONE incident, name another, dimwit.

Oh, and no waiting until next Monday for Rush to tell you what to think: You’re on your own, and kindly show your work.

Boring!!! WHO is so gossipy. Brian Williams will survive or not. If all the liars on FOX and all the liars from the Bush Administration can survive maybe Brian can also.

John Smith-you asked for more. Here ya go!
Dateline NBC, 1992, Chevrolet pickups and staged explosions. Small rocket motors were placed in the fuel tanks in order to ignite them and make it look like they exploded. NBC had to fess up to what they did and issues a 3-1/2 minute apology.
October 13-NBC reported that a salmonella outbreak in San Francisco killed 300 people. It didn’t.
July 24-NBC news stated that it was the first news organization to bring video cameras into the CIA museum at the agency’s headquarters in Langley, Va. It wasn’t.
April 29-NBC news reported the height of Mount Everest as 29,965. It’s not.
April 4-NBC news reported the size of the Communist Party of Great Britain as a few thousand. It’s less than 1,000.

Uh, did Brian Williams have anything to do with it? And, were any of those items as important to the country as making a false report on Benghazi?

You do understand that reporters get facts wrong from time to time, don’t you? You know, as opposed to just making things up. You get the distinction, right?

Hi Brian, Sully Sullenberger just called and says thanks for letting him take the credit for saving that flight for all these years, but it’s time to ‘fess up.

I feel that during a time of high stress like in 03 and information is being told that one could believe in a situation that wasn’t totally true. We all have those type of things happen where our eye’s, mind’s and environment at the time are powerfully strong and very convincing to believe. Brain got caught up in one of those moments would be what I believe.
