ANKENY, Iowa--Students at Ankeny High School spent Saturday dancing the night away.

Students came together to raise money for the University of Iowa’s Children’s Hospital.

Saturday marked the first dance marathon for Ankeny.

Organizers say about 400 people showed up to dance and participate in the benefit.

The event included students and staff from Ankeny High School, Ankeny Centennial High School, and Northview and Southview Middle Schools.

“It’s so amazing to know that what we did for other people, not ourselves this is all for children who need it and none of it is going for us and that’s the best feeling in the world,” says Ankeny Student Council President Rachel Petersen.

The six hour event raised nearly $32,000.
