DES MOINES, Iowa -- Police in Des Moines spent part of their day looking for a man considered to be armed and dangerous.

At about 11:30 a.m. Friday, police said Gregory Wright, 33, was involved in a domestic dispute at the Parkwinds Apartment complex on the east side. He then ran and told his wife he was threatening suicide by police officer, investigators said.

The threat sparked a neighborhood search near the area of 37th Street and Ovid Avenue. Dozens of officers searched for nearly two hours with guns drawn.

Authorities called off the search at about 1 p.m. without finding Wright. They said he is likely no longer in the area.

Wright is wanted for burglary and domestic abuse.
