DES MOINES, Iowa -- Several more details regarding a deadly beating outside a bar have materialized.

On April 5, 50-year-old Andrew Purcell was found unconscious outside Gerri's Bar and Grill at approximately 1 a.m. Purcell later died of his injuries on April 6.

On April 7, photos of the suspect were released in the police’s attempt to locate him.

The suspect, 29-year-old Daniel Patton of Des Moines, turned himself in to Des Moines Police Detectives on April 8 and was charged with voluntary manslaughter.

Further details of the incident were provided through a criminal complaint Wednesday.

Court documents said as a group gathered outside the bar, Patton was reportedly telling a story about a past fight. Purcell then approached Patton and made a comment about a story he was telling. Patton proceeded to punch Purcell in the face.

Purcell fell backwards and hit his head on the ground, which ultimately caused his death, according to the report.

Patton’s wife, 39-year old Adrena Patton, was also charged in connection with Purcell's death. She is facing one count of accessory after the fact.

The funeral service for Purcell was held Wednesday afternoon.
