Friends presented Tim Hesse with a donated car earlier this month.

ALTOONA, Iowa –Family and friends will celebrate the life of an Altoona husband and father of two this weekend. Tim Hesse, 39, died Saturday, May 16 after battling stomach cancer. Visitation is Saturday, May 23 from 9 to 11:30 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at noon at Heartland Church in Ankeny.

Doctors diagnosed Hesse with stage four stomach cancer in November. He hadn’t been able to work since. Williamson’s Tire and Repair in Bondurant surprised him with a donated car earlier this month.

The family hoped to use the car to take him to treatments and enjoy a few summer road trips together. Friends set up a Go Fund Me page to help the family with medical and living expenses.
