DES MOINES, Iowa — One man was injured in a shooting in Des Moines Monday night and a suspect in the case has been identified.

Police say the victim, 37-year-old Ricardo Perry, showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound around 10 p.m. Perry told police he was shot in the 1300 block of DeWolf Street at his residence, according to the Des Moines Police Department.

Perry told police his kids yelled for him when a man with a gun came into their house. He says it went off when he was trying to pull the gun from the suspect’s hand. Perry was hit in the left wrist with a single gunshot.

Perry also told police he thinks the man is the father to one of his children’s friends. A suspect has been identified as Tiano Turner of Des Moines, according to police.

Police also say the Perry’s injuries were non-life-threatening, and they have not made any arrests in the case at this time.
