AMES, Iowa -- Ames Police are investigating their second home invasion in the last two days.

According to police, two black males forced their way into the front door of a duplex located at 2703 Melrose Avenue just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

The two men demanded money and other items while displaying a handgun. A resident was assaulted during time and sustained cuts to their head. Both men then fled with stolen items northbound.

Authorities are investigating to see if this incident and a similar incident that happened Monday morning are related.

The victim in Monday’s robbery said they knew the suspects. The victim in Tuesday’s robbery says they didn’t know the suspects.

However, police said they do think Tuesday’s robbery was also targeted.
