POLK CITY, Iowa — A plan to bring a new aquatic center to town was voted down in Polk City Tuesday.

The bond referendum was for nearly $9 million. Along with the aquatic center, the recreational complex would have had 13 soccer fields and six baseball diamonds.

The money also would have helped make renovations to the current sports complex.

Thirty-eight percent of voters said yes to the referendum and 62 percent said no.
