NEW SHARON, Iowa -- Three young brothers are dead after a crash in Mahaska County Thursday.

The Iowa State Patrol says a truck driven by 41-year-old Shawn Schippers collided with a car driven by 16-year-old Jamie Singletary at the intersection of Queens Avenue and 130th Street, east of New Sharon, around 1:00 p.m.

They say both vehicles went into the ditch.

Singletary, along his brothers, 13-year-old Carson and 10-year-old Christian, died in the crash.

The boys went to school in the North Mahaska School District. Officials say counselors will be available at the schools Friday to help students deal with the loss.

A vigil was held Thursday night at the Methodist Church in New Sharon, with about 250 people attending.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to collect donations for the family of the three boys. You can donate here.
