DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines police say another prostitution sting in the metro has yielded arrests.

The latest sting was held Wednesday and at least five people were arrested. Thirty-five-year-old Ricardo Castllanos, 35-year-old Edu Aragon-Hernandez, 52-year-old Vernon Welker, 21-year-old Aireona Little, and 45-year-old Joseph Tanksley have all been charged with prostitution.

Earlier this week the Des Moines Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked together on a prostitution sting where 20 arrests were made. It happened Tuesday at two local hotels.

Among those charged was 58-year-old David Greenspon. He is the owner of a local advertising and marketing company and former owner of the Iowa Barnstormers.

Also arrested was 31-year-old Tommy Birch, a sports reporter for the Des Moines Register.

Sgt. Brandon Bracelin with the Polk County Sheriff’s Department says Tuesday’s sting was prompted by a series of complaints, “This specific one came out of complaints from business owners and citizens in general activity going on in motels and hotels that they were concerned about, and that`s what sparked this and was the catalyst for this operation and future operations to come.

Police say Tuesday’s sting involved using an online ad but would not name the website used.
