DES MOINES, Iowa – Iowans in support of the Iran Nuclear Deal made calls to lawmakers Wednesday to voice their approval.

The Friends of Catholic Peace Ministry hosted a call-a-thon Wednesday, luring people in with free pizza. The “Peace 4 Pizza” effort had callers of all ages coming in to reach out to Iowa Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst, as well as senators from other states, voicing their support for the Iran Nuclear Deal.

“We believe that our elected officials should hear from us; and that it’s a great opportunity to thank those who we believe are focusing on diplomacy, and putting their vote toward diplomacy instead of war,” said Erika McCraskey of the Catholic Peace Ministry. “So, it’s nice to come together sometimes in community to be able to take some time, and make phone calls, and let people know that we are paying attention to the issues.”

Callers left messages with officials still on the fence over the deal, but also called those who had already decided to support it, thanking them for their decision.
