Des Moines Woman Reaches Plea Deal for Role in Overdose Death of Daughter

DES MOINES, Iowa – A Des Moines woman has reached a plea deal with prosecutors for her role in the overdose death of her 5-year old daughter.

Jayda Canada died last October after ingesting morphine. Her mother, Tionne Bloodsaw, was set to go on trial Monday for child endangerment, neglect and drug charges. However, she reached an agreement with prosecutors last week.

Details of her plea will be released at a hearing on Nov. 9.

Last week her former boyfriend, Deshawn Trombone, plead guilty to child endangerment causing death and several drug violations.

He was sentenced to 65 years in prison.
